The British Triathlon Super Series and Paratri Super Series seasons ended last weekend at the Grand Final at Leicestershire’s Mallory Park. Also taking place were the Interregional Championships for Tri Start 2 and 3 triathletes.
Scotland took the overall win in the Interregional Championships. They picked up the most points in the Open TriStar 3 individual race, as well as the Tri Star 2 and 3 Female Transition Challenge and the Mixed Team Relay on their way to top spot. The South East were a close second thanks to picking up the most points in the Female Tri Star 2 and 3 Individual races. The East region completed the top three.
The Open PTS2 race was won by Ethan Dent with Nathanael Hill crossing the line in second place. The Female PTS2 race was won by Harriet Woodhouse. Michael Fox took top spot on the Open PTS4 podium ahead of Josh Garrett with Alex Moran taking third place.
The Open PTS4 race came down to the run as Oliver Scott took the win. Scott was out of the water first before dropping to third on the bike leg. He then recorded the quickest run time to win ahead of Tom Barnard with Florian Combe in third. Sophie West took the win in the Female PTS5 race.
Dave Ellis and guide Luke Pollard were winners in the Open PTVI race. Jake Bailey, guided by Sam Davies was next over the line with Harry Hughes and his guide, Morgan Gallimore, coming third. The Female PTVI race saw Rachael Elliott cross the line in first place alongside guide Ella Tayor, with Gemma Peterman coming second alongside her guide Gwen Kinsey.
The Open PTWC race was won by James Bilham with James Hall in second place.
Although the race included French Triathletes in the Open Youth A Tier One category, only the top three Brits were eligible for the podium spots. Finlay Goodman was second overall and the first British triathlete over the line with the fastest run time of the day. Henry White was a further 22 seconds back with Ruben Price taking the final spot on the podium.
The Open Youth A Tier Two race was won by Otis Farrer-Brown. He exited the water in the lead but fell behind Ollie Hayward on the bike leg. Farrer-Brown then put in the fastest run time of the day to regain the lead and win by over 30 seconds. Hayward was second, out-sprinting Ruairidh Sterling, who took third place, and William Grundy (fourth) to the line with the trio separated by just three seconds.
Zara Jones was the winner in the Female Youth A race. She was out of the water in second place but led out of T1. She remained at the front of the field across both the bike and run legs to win by six seconds. Behind her there was a three-way battle for the remaining two spots on the podium. Emma Graham-Brown was next over the line, sprinting clear of Isabella Waugh by just two seconds. Waugh then pipped Ambre Ugolini to third place thanks to the quickest run time of the race.
Reuben Wadey led from the off to take the win in the Open Youth B race. He was out of the water with a six second lead and stretched it to almost a minute across the bike leg. His lead dropped on the run leg, but he was too far clear at that stage for it to impact the result as he crossed the line just under 50 seconds ahead of second place Alex Boyer. Maximus Murray completed the podium a further ten second back.
Anna Patterson won the Female Youth B race by just four seconds ahead of Siena Stephens. Stephens led out of the water before Patterson took the lead thanks to the quickest bike time of the race. And while Stephens closed the gap across the run it wasn’t enough to take back top spot on the podium. Patience Lamb put in the quickest run time of the race as she completed the top three.
The Open Junior race was won by Oliver Conway. He was out of the water in sixth place and moved into the lead group on the bike leg. Conway then put in the fastest run time of the race to take top spot on the podium by 13 seconds. Deri McCluskey was next over the line while Alex Robin was a further 22 seconds back in third place.
Isla Hedley was the winner in the Female Open race. She was first out of the water before Eve Whitaker took the lead on the bike leg. Hedley retook the lead on the run and put in the quickest time of the race to win by over 40 seconds. Whitaker came across the line in second while Millie Breese was third.
Benjamin Cumberland stood on the top step of the podium in the Open Senior race. He came out of the water 21 seconds off the lead but put in the fastest bike time to cut the gap at the front. Cumberland followed it up with the second fastest run time of the race to take the win by 23 seconds. Jimmy Lund came across the line in second with Marcus Dey completing the podium.
Daisy Davies came from ten seconds back after the swim to win the Female Senior Race. Davies was seventh heading into T1 before she took the lead on the bike leg. She was the only triathlete in the race to run under 27 minutes as she raced away from the field to win by over 30 seconds. Isabella Hayes who had led out of the water was next across the line, with Katie Rodda taking third place.
