Mallory hosts Super Series heats and finals action

The British Triathlon Super Series season continued at Mallory Park for the Heats and Finals. Triathletes from Youth A, Youth B, Junior and Senior categories raced in a time trial on day one, before they went head-to-head in the finals on day two.  

Here are the podium finishers from each category  

Female Youth A  
After setting the fastest time in day one’s time trial in the Female Youth A Category, Darcy Gladwell followed it up with a win in the final on day two. She exited the water with a one second advantage and was amongst the leaders across the 8km bike leg, before sealing victory with the fastest run time of the race. Hannah Painter was next across the line, with the fastest bike leg of the race helping her to take second place. The podium was completed by Betsy North.

Open Youth A  

The Open Youth A category was won by Tristan Robin after finishing second in the time trial on day one. After coming out of the water in third place, he remained at the business end of the field across the bike leg and broke clear of the competition on the run to take the win by 26 seconds. Behind him Sam Redmond out-sprinted Israel Noble for second place as the pair crossed the line just a second apart.

Female Youth B  
Patience Lamb ran her way to victory in the Female Youth B race, with Annabell Souter and Lauren Mitchell completing the podium in a photo finish further back. Lamb, who was second on day one, came out of the swim in second place and was joined by Souter and Mitchell on the bike in the front pack that also included time trial winner Anna Patterson. On the run leg, the three that would finish on the podium broke clear with Lamb coming out on top. Behind her, Souter out-sprinted Mitchell to the line with the pair setting the same time.

Open Youth B 
Alex Dack came out on top on both days in the Open Youth B race. He came into both T1 and T2 towards the front of the race and put in the fastest run time of the race to take the win by just six seconds. Alex Boyer was next over the line, while William Pridden, who was eighth on day one, completed the podium.

Female Junior 
In the Female Junior race Megan Hornung came from almost 30 second back after the swim to take the win. She exited the water in ninth before putting herself back into contention for the win on the bike leg. The 2.5km run saw her post the fastest time of the race to win by nine seconds. Behind her, Millie Breese, who was quickest on day one, finished second with Katie Mathison completing the podium.

Open Junior  
Harry Maxwell was first across the line in the Open Junior race as three seconds separated the top-three. He came out of the water in ninth but cut the gap to the leaders on the bike leg. During the 2.5km run he took the lead with the fastest run time of the race, beating Luke Holmes (second) and Christo Chilton (third) in a sprint finish.

Female Senior  
Sophia Green followed up her time trial win on day one with victory on day two in the Female Senior race. She was first out of the water and on the bike leg was part of a large group that headed out onto the run together. Her lead was restored across the 2.5km course as she took the win by 12 seconds. Bethany Cook joined her in completing the race in under 31 minutes as she took second spot, while Daisy Davies completed the podium.

Open Senior  
Jack Stanton-Stock was the winner of the Open Senior race while the battle for the other two podium sports saw five triathletes separated by just four seconds. Stanton-Stock exited the water over 20 seconds down, but cut the lead after T1 thanks to the fastest bike time of the race. His win was secured on the run leg as he completed the course 12 seconds faster than anyone else to cross the line with a nine second lead. Behind him, Solomon Okrafo-Smart sprinted clear of four other triathletes to take second with Marcus Dey just two seconds back in third.
