Sunday saw a double header of Super Series events as the Youth and Junior athletes headed to Lochore Meadows in Scotland for an aquathlon race, meanwhile the Paratri athletes were racing at the Dambuster event at Rutland Water.
This event consisted of three different races of different distances, with finishing positions in each race combined to find the overall winner of each category. The event also doubled up as the Elite Aquathlon Championships, so there was plenty on the line for each athlete.
Youth A
The Youth A category competed over three race distances of:
In the Female category, Emma Graham-Brown won two out of the three races to take the overall win. Consistency was the key for Isla Widdowson who finished in the top four in each race to finish second overall. Sophie Maxwell took the bronze medal overall, just pipping Bibi Abernethy on overall time.
In the Open category Aidan Turner won each race to take overall first place at the event. Jamie Lonergan came second in the first two races and third in the final one in order to come second overall, with Ewan Sparey improving in each event to pick up the bronze medal.
Youth B
The Youth B category competed over three race distances of:
In the Female category, Zara Jones took the win, ahead of Amelie Crabb in second place with Darcey Murphy coming home in third.
In the Open race, Henry White took the combined win, ahead of Jacob Brown, who just pipped Oscar Chirnside for third place.
Junior
The Junior Category raced over the same distances as the Youth B athletes.
In the Female category, wins in the first two races of the day were the springboard for Patience Lamb to take the overall crown. Amelie Crabb took second place, scoring the same number of points, but ahead of Darcey Murphy on overall time
Ben Hill took the win in the Junior category, once again with wins in the first two races. It was a close fought battle, as Alex Boyer won the final race which meant scores were level, but Ben took the win on overall time. William Pridden took home the bronze medal.
The next event for the Youth and Junior athletes will be at Mallory Park on the weekend of 28 and 29 June.
Dambuster Triathlon hosts the second leg of the Paratri Super Series this summer, bringing the racing to Rutland Water in the East Midlands.
