10/09/2024

Eton Dorney played host to the penultimate round of the British Triathlon Super Series season with Youth A, Youth B, Junior and Senior triathletes all competing for vital ranking points ahead of the Grand Final.

Youth A

Aidan Turner came away with the win in the Open Youth A category. In the final race of the day, which followed a run, swim, bike format, he was in third after the run leg. He took control of the race on the swim, going 12 seconds quicker than everyone else in the water before crossing the line just three seconds ahead of Israel Noble who closed the gap on the bike leg. Will Bailey was a further three seconds back in third.

In the Female Youth A race, Betsy North took the win by 12 seconds back to Darcy Gladwell. North was third after the run leg with Gladwell for company as the duo matched each other across the swim and bike legs. It was on the bike where North moved ahead as she ran across the finish line for the win. Behind them, Florence Salmon out-biked Zara Jones for the final spot on the podium.

Youth B

Reuben Wadey was the only Open Youth B triathlete to make the A Final as they raced alongside Junior and Senior triathletes. Crossing the line 12th, and as the only Youth B triathlete in the race, gave him the overall win. Alex Boyer was second in the standings, racing as the only Youth B triathlete in the B final, finishing 13th amongst Senior and Junior Triathletes. In the C final, Maximum Murray was second overall and first of four Youth B triathletes to take third spot in the category.

As one of four Female Youth B triathletes in the A final, Anna Patterson took the win by crossing the line eighth, one place ahead of fellow Youth B triathlete Lauren Mitchell. Patterson and Mitchell matched each other across the swim before Patterson moved clear on the final two parts of the race, which went in a swim, bike, run format. The Female Youth B podium was completed by Lucy Jones.

Junior

Oliver Conway won the A final by two seconds ahead of senior triathlete Chris Perham thanks to the fastest run time of the race, giving him the Open Junior category win in the process. Deri McCluskey came second in the Junior category crossing the line 13 seconds behind Conway. Alex Robin was the third Junior triathlete over the line to complete the category’s podium.

Millie Breese topped the female Junior category and was second overall in the A final, missing the race win by just two seconds. Betsy Griffiths also made the A final and second in the category. Jessica Heeps won the B final by just two seconds ahead of fellow Junior triathlete Antonia Jubb, to finish third in the category.

Senior

The Open Senior was won by Chris Perham who, after racing his way into the A Final, was second across the line but importantly ahead of the other Senior Triathletes in the race. He came out of the water in second and remained towards the front end of the race across the bike leg. On the run he was the fastest senior triathlete by four seconds, cementing his win. Dominic Coy took second place in the category, five seconds behind Perham. Ten seconds back Lawrence Martindale was the next Senior triathlete over the line to complete the top three.

Lara Atkinson was the winner on the Female Senior category and won the A final overall, crossing the line two seconds clear of Junior category winner Millie Breese. The next Senior triathlete over the line was Issy Hayes, who after leading out of the water survived a late sprint from Emma O’Brien to take second in the category. O’Brien was third with the second quickest run time of the race.
