It was a damp day at Oulton Park race circuit near Chester on Sunday, as the first Para Super Series event of the year took place. The race doubled up as the British Paraduathlon Championships and was held alongside the British Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships, making for an exciting start to the season.
There were just the two categories competing at Oulton Park, with last year’s winners defending their titles.
In the PTS5 category, Sophie West took the win, just over five minutes ahead of Verity Toplis in second with Debbie Watt slightly further back in third.
Sophie Green took the win in the PTVI category, finishing in a time of 37:57
Once again James Bilham took the win in the PTWC category at the Super Series race at Oulton Park, finishing in a time of 42:35
In the PTVI category, Paralympian Oscar Kelly came home in first place in a time of 28:59. Oscar finished over five minutes clear of second placed Harry Hughes with Nathaniel Costigan close behind in third.
Isaac Fawell took home the win in the PTS2 category, finishing in 50:15
There was a close race in the PTS3 category, with Josh Pullen finishing around a minute ahead of Ethan Dent in second.
Josh Garrett came home first in the PTS4 category, ahead of second place finisher Alexander Moran.
In the PTS5 category, Oliver Scott took the win in a time of 30:24, finishing ahead of Florian Combes who finished second, with Danny Simpson rounding out the podium in third.
The next event in this year’s Super Series is the Performance Assessments weekend taking place on the weekend of 18-19 April, while the next Paratri race will be at Llanelli on 9 May.
