Bala Grand Final brings senior Super Series to a close

On Sunday 6 September, the Super Series Grand Final for senior athletes took place in Bala, in North Wales.

Women’s Senior Grand Final

In the female race, Jasmine Cooper was first out of the water closely followed by Darcey Murphy and Ellie White. Sam McInnes exited at the back of the pack but recorded the fastest bike leg to bring her back into contention. She went on to take the win, with Darcey Murphy taking second and Jasmine Cooper third.

Murphy was the first under-20 across the line and so in the 20+ race, Martha Carlton Seal took third position.  

Open Senior Grand Final

Daniel Van Ardt took the win on the day, ahead of Deri McCluskey and Oliver Hitchcock. Van Aardt had the fastest swim, coming out three seconds ahead of McCluskey. Hitchcock was last out the swim but again recorded the fastest bike to bring him back into the race for the podium. Van Aardt, McCluskey and Hitchcock produced the three fastest runs on the day to secure the top three spots.

Super Series overall results

Sam McInnes’ first place in Bala was enough to secure the win across the whole Series. She shared the podium with Kate Mathison in second place and Anna Hedley in third.

Senior female overall rankings

Daniel Van Aardt took the overall series win in the open category, Mack Downey second and Deri McCluskey third.
