Super Series Reaches Halfway Stage

The British Triathlon Super Series is picking up speed as we pass the halfway point of the 2023 season and edge closer to September’s Grand Final at Mallory Park.

Since the start of June, athletes have had the chance to race at Lochore Meadows and Worcester in an aquathlon and at Mallory Park in a full triathlon.

The north aquathlon at Lochore Meadows saw Patience Lamb claim top spot for the first time this season in the Female Youth A race, while in the Open Youth A category, Arthur Ballard claimed his second win of the season. In the Youth B race there were victories for Helena Coy and Tom Clark in the female and open groups respectively. In the Junior Female race, Isla Hedley added to her win at the Junior World Trial in May with another victory alongside Struan Bennet in the Junior Open category.

In the southern equivalent at Worcester, Annabelle Souter was on the top step of the podium in the Youth A Female race. In the Youth A Open race, Alex Boyer stood on the top step of the podium for the first time this season after previously coming second in Llanelli.

In the Female Youth B category, Talia Hughes recorded a season best finish to claim first place, with Jasper Adamson winning for the first time this year in the Open Youth B category after being on the podium at his three previous races. In the Junior Female category, Antonia Jubb crossed the line first as Oliver Conway took top spot in the Junior Open category.

The sprint race at Mallory Park saw the senior athletes return to action with Tilly Anema winning in her first race of the season in the Senior Female race. In the Senior Open race Christopher Perham also won in his first Super Series race of 2023. Lauren Mitchell, who won in Llanelli, stood on the top spot of the podium again in the Youth A Female race with Ballard adding to his Lochore Meadows win with another victory in the Youth A Open category. In the Youth B Female race, Coy recorded her fifth straight win and maintained her perfect start to the season.

In the Youth B Open category Harry Maxwell, who was second in Worcester, came out on top. Beth Cook won on her return to the Super Series in the Junior Female group after finishing second in Junior World Trial. In the Junior Open race, Struan Bennet added to his Lochore victory to stand on the top step of the podium for the second time in as many races.

The action continues in July as the Paratri Super Series returns on 15 July at 2023 World Triathlon Para Series Swansea. Athletes will compete across a super sprint distance at the Prince of Wales Dock and SA 1 Waterfront. While Youth, Junior and Senior athletes will be competing at AJ Bell 2023 World Triathlon Super Series Sunderland in super sprint and ¾ stand distance triathlons respectively on 29- 30 July.
