British Triathlon has confirmed this year’s south aquathlon for Youth and Junior athletes will be held in Worcester on Sunday 2 July 2023.
The event will be hosted at Worcester Triathlon by Worcester Triathlon Club and will follow the same format as last year with three races over different distances during the day.
As in previous years, this second aquathlon event has been added to create less travel and greater flexibility for athletes competing in the Super Series with Youth & Junior athletes only needing to attend one aquathlon event – either the event in Worcester or the previously announced event at the Triathlon Scotland Lochore Aquathlon on Sunday 18 June. The same number of points will be awarded at both events.
The aquathlon events are held to support the development of swim and run skills, and are only part of the British Triathlon Youth & Junior Super Series in 2023. Athletes competing in the Senior Super Series and Paratri Super Series do not need to attend, although some Senior athletes may be invited.
As confirmed earlier in February, an additional event has also been added at Mallory Park on Sunday 28 May for Youth B and Junior athletes and this will be the trials race for the Junior World Triathlon Championships.
Entries are open for both the British Paraduathlon Championships (2 April) and Performance Assessments (1-2 April), which are the opening events of this year’s Super Series, as well as race applications for Youth, Junior and Seniors athletes for all Super Series events taking place in 2023.
